Spark

A hopeful reflection on love's ability to grow, endure, and ignite new flames in the hearts of others.

Said a little spark to another,

Hey, let's come together,

to light this dimming world

with our love.

Like fireworks, our love will fly -

so the world may see,

and know it can be done,

with their spark,

hearts can be set ablaze.

Replied the other spark with laughter,

I want to grow old together.

Holding your hand in mine,

walking familiar roads,

yet learning new paths unknown;

so the world may know,

and understand,

to never forget,

what it means to love.

Now the sparks lit up to form a flame.

They cried - let our flame burn,

till nothing is left of us;

but our spark won't be in vain.

A tiny spark will find another,

burning even brighter.

Although they too will flicker out,

as their time rolls on.

Yet another will ignite a flame.

Reflection:

Love often begins quietly, like a small spark. It may seem insignificant at first, but when two hearts choose to come together with sincerity, humility, and care, that spark can grow into something much greater.

Genuine love is not only about the moment it begins, but about the journey it takes. Yet, the beauty of it is not only in how it burns between two people, but in how it inspires others. Even when our time passes, the love we shared, the kindness we gave, and the example we lived can continue to spark new beginnings in others. In this way, love is never truly lost. It simply finds another heart to ignite.

This poem can also reflect the message found in Matthew 5:14-16, which reminds us not to hide our light, but to let it shine before others. Light has a way of spreading and reaching into even the darkest places, much like a spark that grows into a flame. In the same way, the light within us is not meant to remain in one place, but to shine outward and ignite hope in others.

Has your love inspired others to ignite their own flame?
